Dimensions & Fitment

Critical measurements for LL8 swap planning and clearance checks.

Block Dimensions

Length (Front to Rear)
29.75"
Width (Side to Side)
22.5"
Height (Pan to Cover)
30.7"
Weight (Bare Block)
320 lbs

Oil Pan Depth

⚠️

Factory Oil Pan: 10" deep (measured from block flange)

Issue: Front sump with transfer case passage - too deep for most RWD swaps

Solution: Custom rear sump pan (Emtech, Forever Fabrication, Stutz Performance)

Valve Cover Height

📏

Plastic Cover: 18.85" (oil pan to valve cover top)

Aluminum Cover: 18.85" (can be machined 1-2" for clearance)

Note: 3.75" taller than 2JZ-GTE, 2" taller than LS engines

💡

LL8 Advantage: Narrower than V8s (22.5" vs 26"+) - fits where V8s don't

LL8 Challenge: Taller than most engines - requires hood clearance planning
